Well, it’s complicated. In this post I will try to put reasoning in why you should (or shouldn’t) build your website or blog with Wix. Yes ,Wix can be great at some cases. I will explain which are these cases.

Number 1 reason why you shouldn’t choose Wix – It’s limitations

Wix is a relatively limited platform for you as a blogger. There is limit to ad ons you can install. There is very limited amount of design you can use. If we compare it to WordPress options – it’s a totally different world. And yes – I know that if you’re a beginner and just starting your blog you heard that Wix is the most easy to use. In some cases it’s true – but it will “cost” you with the options you can use – regarding design, style and code.

With Wix – you must use their hosting

If you build your website with Wix – you must host it on their host. Let’s imagine a situation where Wix is going under, and closes its gates. Where is your blog? gone. for good. On WordPress for comparison – you can host the website wherever you want, and you can always change the host. As much as you like.

Wix is limited in SEO terms

Yes, a lot of people in the online marketing industry will tell you that Wix’s websites are just as good for SEO than any other platform being used. The truth is that it’s not that accurate. Wix’s websites are not that of a good deal when you want to compete in very competitive niches. If you want to be in the big league games – you should definitely start your blog with WordPress. Of course you can build a website with Wix and get traffic – but you will need to put a lot more effort into it to get rankings on high quality keywords. Take this under concideration. Wix is not fully intuitive

I know many bloggers. All the bloggers I know started out without knowing WordPress or Wix. Most of them did not know any other blogging platform as well. They started out with no knowledge. They were probably just like you. Wondering around the internet looking to start. They all found WordPress much more intuitive than Wix. Yes. That’s a really interesting thing. I know that many think that Wix is easier to handle if you don’t know code. But I saw myself that it’s not really true.

Wix is great if you are under strict time lines.

Using Wix can be great if you need a website up and running in a few days. It can be great if you never started a blog and you are in a hurry to build something fast. If you ask me if you need to go for WordPress or Wix – the first thing I will ask you is “what’s your goal”? “where do you want to go”? “are you planning on sending traffic via SEO? (search engines – organic) or PPC? (paid traffic). Also, I would ask you if you need a website for your business, a blog for your hobby, or other purpose. Why? because the purpose can change the answer to the question – Wix or WordPress.

What are Wix’s advantages?

in general I can say that with wix – anyone can generate a nice looking website, with no prior knowledge in code or HTML. With WordPress – it’s a bit more complicated.

Wix has an easier and more friendly interface for beginners

Wix is an easy to learn platform. It’s very intuitive, and it’s suitable for every knowledge level.

With Wix you can have a nice looking website within days

The most substantial advantage of Wix over WordPress is the fact that it enables anyone to create a beautiful website within days. With WordPress – it will take more time, because it’s more complicated to handle, and maybe you will need to hire a programmer for generating different parts of your website or blog.

Wix is better than wordpress if you need simplicity

If you’re just looking to create a professional website for your business – something like 5-6 pages with about, clients, our story and etc, Wix is a lot better for you than WordPress. It’s a huge advantage for Wix.

Wix enables more advanced features to those who doesn’t know coding

If you’re not too technical – Wix will provide you with advanced features even if you don’t know coding. That’s a big plus.

Wix or wordpress – depends on your technical knowledge

If you’re a beginner and don’t feel you have a technical sense and abilities – You can use Wix to start a great blog. With Wix – anyone (including those who know nothing about computers) can generate a good looking website. on the other hand – if you choose wordpress – you’ll need to be putting more effort in order to get the same nice looking website. Wix is better for you if you’re not a technical person or you’re just terrified from the thought of code, HTML and stuff like that.

What are WordPress advantages?

WordPress is the leading content creation system around the world. It has lots of features, and some say that search engines like WordPress based websites more than others (specially more than wix websites). It’s easier to make good SEO on WordPress websites than on Wix websites.

If you plan on starting a big content website – go for WordPress

WordPress is the better choice for content. If you plan on creating a content based website – for sure WordPress is better for you. It has everything you need build in so your blog or website will be functioning and well in SEO terms. You just install the right plugin (a piece of simple code) and you can do just about anything content speaking. If you have the technical approach or you have a programmer – I wouldn’t think twice and go for WordPress.

Are you an agency or a freelance?

If you’re an agency, or you need more than on user name, you need the Ahrefs. They are much more generous with supplying multiple users per account.

SEMRUSH offers more data and more advanced analysis

My best tips for blogging are a lot – but this one is crucial. You must publish things on your blog on a daily basis. At least twice or three times a week. Your readers must see that your blog is updated all the time. By the way, Google’s bots must see you are refreshing the website constantly also. Otherwise, they will not come crawling your website regularly – which can result in low traffic volume from search engines. That’s a bit bad. #18 be consistent, do not give up until results arrive

don’t stop. Even if there are no results at the beginning. Most bloggers don’t stay consistent because they do not see results fast. You should out bit them and stay strong until results will arrive. I tell you that if you keep the good work and generate great content the work will pay off. Stay consistent and keep thinking about content and how to create it.

#19 Do no delete any content ever from your blog!

Even if you are in the blogging scene for awhile and all of a sudden you see old posts of yours in your blog. you feel that “they are old” and do not represent who you are today – never erase them! it may be that they are very appealing to your users. Another thing is that this content can be very usefull to some people. It can also be that some search traffic is coming from these posts, or that someone linked to one of these posts and it’s an important link for your website or blog. Be careful and never delete content from your site. It can only bring bad results. Blue host service compared to Godaddy’s client service

With Godaddy you will only be able to call them. Few years back, you could e-mail them, but today you can contact Godaddy only by phone. Of course it’s 24/7. On the other hand, with Bluehost you can chat with them, or call them. I didn’t find any big difference between the client service I encountered with the both of these companies. Mabye Godaddy was a bit better, but not substantially.

Each company is better at something else – Godaddy is the largest

Godaddy is more familiar and more popular maybe. It doesn’t mean that bluehost is no good. I think that both of the companies supply with a good shared hosting plan for beginners. if you’re a beginner – both of them are good for you. I find bluehost a bit easier to manage. Godaddy’s hosting plans – generally speaking

If you’re a beginner – Godaddy hosting plans can be good for you. Go daddy’s hosting plans include the basic plan for 3.99 per year. The following year will cost 5.99$ to renew. It includes a free domain and a matched email address. It’s totally ok and sufficient if you only have one blog or one website, and you’re a beginner. (it’s a lot like what bluehost is offering at a cheaper price – right here).

Godaddy actually offers 4 different hosting plans as you can see below. Here it is:

Godaddy’s economy hosting plan – great for beginners

If you only need one site hosting, I assume you’re a starter. Maybe You’ve just opened your blog, or online store. Whatever you did – you probably don’t want (and don’t need) to pay a lot for hosting. The Godaddy economy plan is an ok plan to start with. It also installs in a one click installation the wordpress setup. This is great if you still don’t have a blog but you want to have one, and want someone to install it for you. To make a long story short – It’s an ok price for an ok plan if you’re a starter and only needs your blog to “have an affordable home for the next months”.

Godaddy’s advanced hosting plans offers “increased proccessing and speed” – what does it mean exactly?

I really don’t know what that means. i mean, one of the only things that defer the advanced hosting plans of Godaddy from their “economy” basic plan is the line I circled in the next photo. It’s marked in Yellow or orange – depends on how you view colors

“Standard performance” at the “Delux hosting plan”, “Increased processing power” on the “ultimate hosting plan” and “increased processing and speed” at the “maximum hosting plan. This promises nothing. Maybe it’s a way of promising better performance, maybe it’s a marketing way to increase the plan’s price. I’m not sure. Therefore, I will write it again – if you’re a beginner – go for the economy plan. You do not need anything more at the moment. if you’re an advanced – I guess there are other good options in the market for great hosting plans – I wouldn’t settle for anything i’m not sure of. I would write to Godaddy and as what do these “increased processing power and speed” means in technical terms. What exactly am I getting if i’m paying few more dollars per month. Goodluck.

If You keep on going even when it’s tough and you see no results – eventually – you will see results. It can take few weeks, or even few months. but, if you’re on it – and keep improving your efforts – it will happen. Trust me on this one. If you only blog – it’s a bit limited. If you only do PPC and don’t have digital assets of your own – it’s not a good strategy for long. If you’re not sure if to start your blog with Wix or Worpress – read this review of mine.

If I need to choose between the 2 – I will always recommend starting a blog, rather than doing only PPC. Why? because in your own blog that you create, you have control on the results. It’s your media and your prices. If you write well and get high volume traffic, you can earn a very nice amount of money. If we compare this to PPC campaigns on google and facebook, instagram and etc, it’s better for you. But again, I suggest you do both, if possible.

Well, it can be very focused to the niche products you’re trying to promote. It can also be a “general blog” that relates to different topics which you write about, and put affiliate links which relates to the content. Write about stuff you’re passionate about in your blog or any other digital asset

The only thing you need is to write about something you’re passionate about. Some really like computers (like anand chimpi – which started this amazing blog about computers and became huge). Others can love parenting and review motherhood or parenting products.. others can write about fashion, and promote fashion affiliate marketing products and etc.

Your friends will as you “what you’re doing all day long”? some of them will maybe disrespect you and your efforts. That’s all fine. You need to ignore them, and talk to them when the money comes. They won’t laugh when that happens, and it will. If you stick to it.

I swear to god, when you stick to it – it’s happening. If you will put all your effort into it – it will succeed. That’s what I did when I first started. Be strong enough to stand against people around you when they will not understand what is it that you do all day. It doesn’t matter if it’s your mother, father, brother, friends or cousins. Whatever. Stick to your thing, and don’t let go. It’s the only way to be making money with affiliate marketing. Be persistent and patient.

Don’t worry about making money – you will make it eventually

don’t think about the money. If you only think about the money – it doesn’t come. Think about value for your readers (if you do your affiliate marketing profit through a blog) or think about the value you bring to the people who see your ad, or landing page. Focus only on that. The rest will follow. I promise.

You can’t just start blogging on anything (that’s unless you’re Meghan Markle or Oprah Winfrey). You need to find a theme for your blog so people would interact with you and your writing. Unless you’re famous you need to start from a subject, a theme.

Start blogging after you decide on a style

you need to decide on a style of writing. Will you be writing in a “friendly style” or an “expert style”? decide on your style. In accordance to that choose the style of your blog color meaning, font and everything. It needs to comply with the style of your writing.

How many posts will you be able to write weekly or daily?

Think with yourself how dedicated will you be to your blog. Will you be posting daily? weekly? Decide in advance how much will you be posting and impose yourself to write in the ammount you said to yourself you would write. If you decide on writing daily – do that! don’t let go on yourself.
