Today, Mark zuckerberg announced: Facebook is now launching a new service for small business owners: online digital shopping stores on Facebook and Instagram.
Facebook stores will integrate with shopify, woocommerce, bigcommerce and more
Mark Zuckerberg announced that the new shopping stores on Facebook will be available on instagram too, and that facebook is collaborating with digital giants such as bigcommerce, woocommerce, shopify, chanell advisor and more. This will enable business owners do decide if they want or how much they want to integrate their online presence with the new facebook and instagram stores. Mark Zuckerberg talked about Covid – 19 and the opportunity for business owners with the new online shopping stores of facebook
Mark Zuckerberg wrote about the Covid – 19 and the opportunity that facebook enables business owners right now. I personally did not like it so much. Why? because it’s obvious that he wrote it to write it. Of course Facebook did not start developing this idea on March this year right? so… It has nothing to do with the Covid -19. Yes, after Covid – 19 people need to think more on their digital strategy and have more online presence. but! it’s not like Facebook had discovered the sun with it’s shopping stores. There were online shopping stores before facebook, and there will be online shopping stores after Facebook.
Facebook shopping stores are not surprising
Facebook stores are definitely not the only place to “escape” from the Covid – 19 disaster. I was mistaking into thinking Mark Zuckerberg would give more credit to his Facebook users. They know additional digital platforms for their shopping stores and a lot of them are already using other solutions on the net.
What is Facebook’s USP?
What does Facebook enables digital store owners to be doing in comparison to their competitors? I did not hear much about that from Mark Zuckerberg on his announcement today. What is new? nothing much as I see it. Besides the fact that he mentioned that in the future (when?) facebook will use augmented reality to show potential customers how they are going to look with the new sun glasses they plan on buying on the internet. Another example is they can show you how the furniture you plan on buying is gonna look like in your living room, before you actually make the purchase.
To conclude, only the future will tell us if there is anything revolutionary about Facebook’s shopping stores that were launched today. But one thing is certain – Zuckerberg did not reveal anything “wow” today in Digital marketing. Not yet.
